Varinia Radu is a partner in the CMS Romania office, Head of Oil & Gas in Central Eastern Europe, and CEE Deputy Head of the EPC Practice group. Based in Bucharest, Varinia has fifteen years’ international experience and her practice focuses on the oil & gas, electricity and mineral resources sectors. Varinia has been recognised as a “Leading lawyer” by Legal 500 and IFLR1000.
Varinia advises an impressive roster of clients from small independents to multinationals on a wide range of issues relating to the Energy sector, including licensing, trading, privatisations, public acquisitions, turnkey projects for energy production facilities for conventional and renewable energy, joint-ventures, petroleum concessions, development of mature oil and gas assets in Romania, farm-out agreements, M&A financing transactions, tax, environment and disputes and competition related to the oil and gas business. Varinia has advised on some of the largest and most innovative oil & gas deals in Romania in recent years, and was also involved in the drafting of a number of important legislative initiatives in the Energy sector. Varinia also contributed to the set up and development of key industry associations such as the Romanian Petroleum Exploration and Production Companies Association, where she serves as a board member.
