Law Related Implementations
– I have in-depth knowledge of Regulation 1725/2018 and the standards of personal data protection, through studies and research undertaken at university as a lecturer and researcher.
– In the period 2006-2010 I undertook, among others, regulatory tasks and the coordination of regulation within the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The first internal normative act on the protection of personal data was adopted by the HR department of the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs as a result of my initiative and with my support.
– The ability to identify practical solutions in the field of data protection is one of the activities I excel at, having had the chance to develop pioneering projects in the field. For example, in collaboration with Amplusnet company, I created the first Romanian self-assessment software concerning data protection compliance. The audit method, the content of the questions and the recommendations were later published in the book: “Practical guide for compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation”.
– As Director of the Data Protection Research Centre, I organised numerous conferences and social events on the topic of personal data protection, all with the aim of informing and raising awareness of data subjects. Each project addressed a specific category of data subjects (e.g. doctors, teachers, traders, public servants or students). Among these projects, the event that I am most fond of was a competition we organised „Art, Privacy and Law”, in which art high school students competed with 64 thematic works (painting, graphics, sketches) expressing their perception of human rights and privacy. The most recent action was the referral to Europe Direct Contact Centre (case number 101000723526) of a possible inconsistency between Directive 680/2018 and the GDPR, thus trying to contribute to a most rigorous application of data protection principles in the European Union.
– In my current job, at G.E. Palade University, I am often consulted when policies or procedures are drafted. Personally, I have drafted and written policies and procedures specific to the field, and I have published several of them in the first volume specific to public administration in Romania titled “Protection of personal data. Templates and forms”.
