
Film Producer and Market Analyst, Vice-Dean of the Film Faculty of UNATC Bucharest
Gabriela (Gabi) Suciu graduated the Directing Class at the National University of Theatre and Film (UNATC) „I. L. Caragiale” in Bucharest, in 2010. Since 2008, she has consistently produced 6 to 8 titles a year, films of all lengths and genres.
In February 2012, she graduated the Film Production Masters’ Program at the same university and founded “Atelier de Film”, a Romanian, Bucharest-based production and distribution company, supported by the UNATC to produce works of the graduates in the Film Faculty, studying for her PhD in Co-Production in the process.
She’s an alumni of Berlinale Talents 2014 and Talents Sarajevo 2012. She continued her training in Emerging Strategies in Film Distribution and Marketing in Berlin in 2012, where her previous studies in Computer Science, combined with her passion for filmmaking led her to understand the needs of the market and the fast and continuous change that can influence a marketing campaign and that is where her journey in film sales and distribution began. One of her most prominent titles in this regards are the Oscar nominated animation “Loving Vincent”, the Golden Bear Berlinale winner „Touch me Not” and the double BAFTA Nominee „McQueen”.
In 2017, she took over Atelier de Film as sole shareholder, while also working as a freelance on projects that attract her at several Romanian production companies like InLight Center or Dropia Film.
She is also a guest lecturer at UNATC at the Film Production Masters program, coordinating the Film Production Practice courses, while also arousing the curiosity of the students in marketing and distribution strategies.
