
Cristina Alexe
Dr Cristina Alexe, FCIArb is a Partner of a Romanian law office having 28 years of experience in legal matters, listed as Arbitration Thought Leader for 2026 and previously (8) years in a row as recognized practitioner by GAR/ Who’s Who Legal Arbitration Global Leader and Future Leaders Partners.
She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has graduated from the ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy for Central and Eastern Europe (ICC Institute of World Business Law and ICC International Court of Arbitration) and the Diploma Course for International Arbitrators from the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC)/Swedish Arbitration Association (SAA).
Dr Cristina Alexe, FCIArb is an accomplished international arbitrator and counsel having acted as co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator, President, emergency arbitrator and counsel in more than 90 domestic and international arbitration cases under various rules of arbitration. Dr Cristina Alexe acts as an international arbitrator with the ICC International Court of Arbitration, DIS (German Arbitration Institute), VIAC (Vienna International Arbitration Centre) and the Court of International Commercial Arbitration of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CICA CCIR) and is an arbitrator listed with Stockholm Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Institute (SCC), Court of Arbitration of AHK Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and member of the AHK Court Board, Vienna International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) List of Arbitration Practitioners, South China International Arbitration Center (SCIAHK) List of Foreign Arbitrators, the Arbitration Court at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Georgian Dispute Resolution Centre (DRC) and the Chișinău International Court of Commercial Arbitration – American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (CACIC).
Her arbitration experience is complemented by strong knowledge and continued practice as a transactional lawyer in M&A/Privatisation, Banking & Finance, Real Estate and Project Finance areas.
She holds a PhD summa cum laude in Civil Procedure on “The Civil Trial Judge between a Pro-active Role and Arbitrariness”(University of Bucharest).
Dr Cristina Alexe has been a Lecturer at the International Arbitration LLM Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, taught in English language for over 14 years.
Since 2019, she is Editor in Chief of the Romanian Arbitration Journal a quarterly publication in the field published by Wolters Kluwer available also in the Kluwer Arbitration database.
She published more than 40 articles on civil procedure, international arbitration and commercial law and regularly speaks at conferences on these subjects.
She is member of the ICCA, ICC Institute of World Business Law where she is part of the ICC Institute Compliance Task Forces on Compliance and International Contracts, LCIA European User’s Council, and Institute for Transnational Arbitration, supports R.E.A.L., RAI as well the Pledge and Greener Arbitrations. Dr Cristina Alexe is part of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) and acts as founding member of ArbCEE – Arbitration Association of Central and Eastern Europe promoting and supporting arbitration in Central and Eastern Europe.
