Dr. Cosmin Sebastian Cercel is an Associate Professor in Law at the University of Nottingham School of Law.

Cosmin obtained his undergraduate degree in Law at the University of Bucharest and at the Université Panthéon Sorbonne Paris I. He continued his studies with a master’s degree in Comparative Legal Studies at the Sorbonne School of Law (Université Panthéon-Sorbonne Paris I). He completed his PhD at the Sorbonne School of Law with honours in 2012.

Prior to coming to Nottingham, Cosmin worked as a PhD researcher at the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne Paris I and as an assistant lecturer (attaché temporaire d’enseignement et de recherche) at the same venue. In this capacity, he taught Comparative Constitutional Law and EU Law at Sorbonne’s branch in Bucharest, the French College of European Legal Studies. He also worked as an assistant lecturer (preparator universitar) at the University of Bucharest, teaching Legal Theory at both the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Philosophy.
