Scientific supervision: A. Colombi Ciacchi, Z. Mansoor (University of Groningen) and C. Mak (University of Amsterdam)
In 2012, the research group on “Immoral Contracts in Europe” was instituted in the framework of the international comparative law project „The Common Core of European Private Law“. This group includes country reporters from 27 EU Member States. A book publication is planned for 2019 with Intersentia, Cambridge.
2. 2003 – 2010: Co-ordination of the project and network „Protection from Unfair Suretyships in the European Union“
Scientific supervision: A. Colombi Ciacchi, G. Brüggemeier (University of Bremen) and S. Weatherill (University of Oxford).
The Marie Curie Host Fellowships for the Transfer of Knowledge (TOK) project „Protection from Unfair Suretyships in the European Union“ was planned in 2003 and funded by the European Community between April 2004 and March 2007. After the termination of the Community funding, the network established by this project has continued its activity with regard to the preparation of a major international joint publication.
Thank to this Marie Curie project, the ZERP/University of Bremen has been able to host a large number of excellent professors and researchers from several European countries, appointed as Marie Curie Fellows: Prof. Sjef van Erp (University of Maastricht), Dr. Rebecca Parry (University of Leicester), Prof. Gerard McCormack (University of Manchester), Dr. Gina Gioia (University of Padua), Dr. Mel Kenny (University of Luzern), Prof. Annina Persson (University of Stockholm), Dr. Francesca Fiorentini (University of Trieste), Prof. Spelča Mežnar (University of Lubjiana), Prof. Tuulikki Mikkola (University of Lappland), Prof. Irene Kull (University of Tartu), Prof. Morten Fogt (University of Aarhus), Prof. Teresa Rodriguez de las Heras Ballell (University Carlos III of Madrid).
Further professors and experienced researchers joined the project as country reporters and authors of contributions in the project publications, so that in the final composition of the network, scholars from 21 EU Member States were involved.

The Research Training Network (RTN) „Fundamental Rights and Private Law in the European Union“ was conceived in 2000 and funded by the EC between October 2002 and September 2006. This enabled the appointment of 24 young scholars of 13 different nationalities.

Fundraising experience
2001: Planning (together with G. Brüggemeier and G. Comandé), preparation and submission of the proposal for a Research Training Network „Fundamental Rights and Private Law in the European Union“.
The network, composed of nine research institutions from eight Member States of the EU, was selected for funding by the European Commission and then funded from 2002 until 2006 for a total amount of 1.500.000 EUR.
2003: Planning, preparation and submission of the proposal for a Marie Curie Host Fellowships for the Transfer of Knowledge project „Protection from Unfair Suretyships in the European Union“.
The project, based on a partnership between the ZERP/University of Bremen and the University of Oxford, was selected for funding by the European Commission and then funded from 2004 until 2007 for a total amount of ca. 540.000 EUR.
2006: Planning, preparation and submission of the proposal for the 3-years research project “Rechtsvergleichung und Grenzen der Rechtsangleichung: Die Unwirksamkeit überfordernder Bürgschaften von Nicht-Unternehmern in Europa“.
The project was selected for funding by the Central Research Funding Office (Zentrale Forschungsförderung) of Bremen University, and then funded from 2007 until 2009, for a total amount of ca. 150.000 EUR.
2018: Leader of the Groningen team within the Horizon2020 JUST-AG project „Fundamental Rights in Courts and Regulation“ (FRICoRe). Coordinating institution: University of Trento. Consortium: six academic and two non-academic institutions from six EU Member States.
The project has been selected for funding by the European Commission. The Grant Agreement was signed in December 2018.
